We’re thrilled to announce that The Carshalton Day Nursery & Preschool has achieved a Good rating in their recent Ofsted inspection.
To mark this milestone, we sat down with the Nursery Manager, Fae Coleman, to discuss what this achievement means for the team, the children, and the community.
How did you feel when you received the Good Ofsted rating?
Fae: My initial feeling was pride. The nursery has been on an incredible journey to achieve this Good grade. From registering as full day care in June 2022 to my joining the nursery in May 2023, it’s been a busy and transformative time. Introducing babies and toddlers into our environment has been one of the most exciting parts of this journey. Our team has grown and evolved significantly, and I couldn’t be prouder of where we are today.
What do you believe contributed most to receiving this positive rating?
Fae: The passion and dedication of every single team member were key. Each of us is here because we genuinely want to make a positive impact on the children and families we care for.
The Ofsted inspector noted how our baby room team engages with the children at their level, sitting on the floor to connect with them. Similarly, our toddlers and preschool teams consistently interact at the children’s eye level, showing genuine care and interest.
We take the time to build meaningful relationships with our families and truly get to know each child as an individual. Every team member brings unique strengths and interests, but we all share the same goal: to make a difference in the lives of the children we care for.
When we received the news, I felt really happy and proud of the amazing team I work with. I’m so grateful for all the training I’ve had, which contributed to my personal development and the nursery’s success.

Can you highlight some of the strengths noted in the Ofsted report?
Absolutely! Here are a few highlights:
- Strong relationships: The team prioritise building strong connections with children and their families.
- Love for books and singing: Children develop a love of reading and music. For instance, babies eagerly hand books to the team, enjoying the shared experience of snuggling up and reading together.
- Community-focused development: The manager has tailored the nursery to meet the specific needs of the local community.
- Ambitious curriculum: The team plan an enriching and ambitious curriculum that helps children thrive.
I was over the moon! Receiving a Good grade strengthened our belief that we’re giving babies the best start in life in a safe and nurturing environment

How do you plan to maintain and build on this positive rating?
Fae: Our journey doesn’t stop here. We’re committed to maintaining and improving the high-quality care and education we provide.
To ensure continued growth:
- Training remains a priority. Our team will continue to participate in both internal and external professional development opportunities to enhance their skills.
- Innovating for the future. We’re exploring new ways to enrich the nursery experience for children and families, ensuring every child gets the best possible start in early education.
We know there’s always room to grow, and we’re excited to continue this journey together as a team and as a nursery community.
At The Carshalton Day Nursery & Preschool, our Ofsted Good rating is just the beginning. Thank you to our amazing team, supportive families, and wonderful children who make our nursery such a special place to be. Here’s to even greater things ahead!
